PSARA Events: Learn, Explore, and Enjoy Radios

Throughout the year, PSARA hosts special events that bring together learning, hands-on experiences, and good conversation. Some events are open to the public, while others are focused on members, but all are centered on curiosity, shared interests, and enjoying radios.

Annual Auction — April

The PSARA Annual Auction is held on the third Sunday in April and benefits the club. It’s a fun, fast-paced event where members and guests can bid on radios, parts, equipment, and radio-related items.

The auction is also a great way to:

  • Support PSARA’s activities and programs
  • Find interesting radios or equipment
  • Enjoy the energy and camaraderie of a live auction

Annual Swap Meet — August

The PSARA Swap Meet takes place on the third Sunday in August and is one of the club’s biggest events of the year.

At the swap meet, you’ll find:

  • Antique and vintage radios from many eras
  • Parts, tubes, test equipment, and related items
  • Plenty of opportunities to browse, talk radios, and connect with others

This event is popular with both members and the public and is a great place to spend the day, whether you’re buying, selling, or just looking.

Equipment Evaluation Clinic — October

Held on the third Sunday in October, the Equipment Evaluation Clinic focuses on learning how to evaluate radios and related equipment.

This clinic provides:

  • Practical guidance on what to look for when assessing radios
  • Discussion of condition, originality, and safety considerations
  • Opportunities to ask questions and learn from experience

It’s especially helpful for anyone looking to better understand what they have — or what they’re thinking about acquiring.

Restoration Contest — November

On the third Sunday in November, PSARA hosts a Contest designed to encourage members to restore and share radios and equipment that are meaningful to them.

The contest is a friendly, supportive way to:

  • Celebrate restoration efforts
  • Share stories
  • See a wide range of radios and equipment from the last 100 years

The emphasis is on participation and inspiration rather than competition.

Event Information

Details about each event — including times, locations, and participation information — are shared through:

  • PSARA meetings
  • Club email communications
  • The PSARA website

The public is always welcome to attend.
