About PSARA

The Puget Sound Antique Radio Association (PSARA) is a community for people who are curious about radios of all kinds. Whether your interest is in wooden tabletop sets, Bakelite consoles, metal or plastic radios, transistors, early wireless, maritime, or amateur equipment, PSARA offers opportunities to explore, learn, and share.

Our members enjoy:

  • Home radios and golden-age broadcasts — hearing and learning about the sets that filled homes with music, news, and entertainment.
  • Historical stories — discovering how radio shaped daily life, connected communities, and inspired innovation.
  • Hands-on learning — exploring circuits, components, restorations, and experiments in a safe and supportive environment.

PSARA is also about connecting with other people who share your curiosity. Monthly in-person meetings include mini-swap meets, presentations, and show-and-tell opportunities. Members can trade radios and parts, ask questions, and share their own projects. Once a year, a larger swap meet and contests celebrate the hobby and provide even more chances to connect.

Safety is an important part of everything we do. Whether learning about high-voltage circuits, delicate components, or careful restoration, PSARA provides guidance so radios can be enjoyed responsibly.

If you’re interested in history, technology, restoration, or simply sharing stories about radios, you’ll find a friendly place at PSARA. Everyone is welcome to explore, ask questions, and enjoy the excitement of radio together.
